This camera is a very good value. I've used for a variety of functions such as recording family events. It does a great job for this. I also used to record my band practice sessions. Obviously you can not approach the sound quality in the studio with a microphone camcorder. That said, this was a reasonably good job of capturing even the low end.
I have not used the record function on the disk, so I can not comment on that. I would recommend getting a large (8 or more GB) Memory Stick PRO Duo, which is what I did. Why waste disks? All you have to do is connect the camera to your PC and transfer files. Foam, rinse, repeat. And if you want to burn discs, because this is what the computer is for!
The user interface of this camera is very intuitive. It is probably one of the biggest compliments I can pay. Good quality video and audio is fundamental, but if you can not use the smelly stuff, so what's the point? I really do not even use t
